The Events of Today and Some More Poetry....

Today has been somewhat of a busy day. We got up, ate lunch @ Fazolis and then went and visited my grandmother. My parents were on their way there too so we got there at about the same time. Today is my dad's B-day I guess... See growing up there wasn't any emphasis on the adult birthdays, so they were never celebrated. So we are all sitting at the kitchen table and Allison looks at me and then looks at dad and says. "Happy Birthday by the way." Now if any of you know my father you know what happens next was just simply inevitible. My dad just stared w/ a dumbass look on his face at Allison while mother and I chuckled. The average person would probably be offended by this but Allison knows that my dad doesn't hate her so all is well. I am finding that I am a lot like my dad...Short temper, selective hearing, and I get really pissed when people ask me dumb questions about things they should have learned in the 3rd grade. Then we went and tried to buy a text book for Allison but the store closed..Fuck...so we went to the mall & Barnes & Noble to find a magazine that my dad's picture is in... Supposedly his picture is in the latest issue of Air Classics, the leading warbird magazine in the U.S., so dad is pretty psyched....Although, if you look briefly, it looks like me, thats what Im going for anyways....
After that was all said and done we stopped and watched Kevin play soccer @ the Sports Plex...Sometimes I wish I was that old again.... Remember back then? When your biggest worry was if you masturbated to much you might go blind? I got glasses in the 4th grade.....................

I thought I should share some more aviation inspired poetry... This would be my favorite poem:

AN IRISH AIRMAN FORESEES HIS DEATH

I know that I shall meet my fate
Somewhere among the clouds above;
Those that I fight I do not hate,Those that I guard I do not love;
My country is Kiltartan Cross,
My countrymen Kiltartan's poor,
No likely end could bring them loss
Or leave them happier than before.
Nor law, nor duty bade me fight,

Nor public men, nor cheering crowds,
A lonely impulse of delight
Drove to this tumult in the clouds;
I balanced all, brought all to mind,
The years to come seemed waste of breath,
A waste of breath the years behind
In balance with this life, this death.

— William Butler Yeats, 1919

High Flight

High Flight
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .

Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
— John Gillespie Magee, Jr

John was an American fighter pilot who secretely flew with the Eagle Squadron in England in 1941... He wrote this poem after a high altitude test where he felt as if he could reach out and touch God.... He was later killed in action.....John was 19 years old.......

crap...just plain crap....

Well, I haven't blogged in a few hours so I thought I should blog again..... Man, I blogged all over myself the other night... So the test went ok, I printed out an entire sheet of notes in size 8pt font, w/ no margins, front & back since it was going to be an open note test; yeah, didn't use any of it.... Brian Help!!!

Yeah, So Pat & I have this test tonight in 390 about Japanese History. Basically what we have here are hundreds of years with a different ruler every other year; that is a shitload of rulers eaching ruling in different time periods based on where the capitol is.....I want to die. Basically I have no idea how I am going to write an essay in a blue book about this shit...I hate blue books.... What the hell happened to multiple choice? I'm in the wrong damn department here...So, anyone w/ some fluent knowledge in Japanese History available? Brian? Help me...........
